"This programme enables us to target a different type of need in students exhibiting specific vulnerabilities impacting health and long-term cognitive progress. Educational programmes that complement living and learning are ideal for a school environment. We cannot wait for Turnstyle to come back."

FAQs
-
Young people can sign up for a Turnstyle programme through referrals made by their school or local community organisation. The process typically begins when a teacher, mentor, or youth worker identifies a young person who could benefit from Turnstyle’s support. The referral is then submitted to Turnstyle, where the team assesses the individual’s needs and suitability for the programme.
Alternatively, if a young person or their guardian is interested in getting involved, they can express their interest to their school or community organisation, who will guide them through the referral process. Turnstyle aims to ensure every participant is placed in a programme that best meets their developmental and wellbeing goals.
-
No prior experience is necessary to join our sessions, as they are inclusive and tailored to accommodate all abilities. Whether a young person is just starting out or already has some experience, our programmes are designed to meet them at their current level and help them progress at their own pace. Turnstyle’s coaches create a supportive and welcoming environment where everyone is encouraged to participate and build confidence, regardless of their skill level.
Our focus is on fostering personal growth, teamwork, and wellbeing, making the sessions suitable for everyone, from beginners to those with more experience.

Our trauma-informed approach, combined with mentors who have lived life experience, helps create an environment built on trust, understanding, and personal growth. By recognising the impact of trauma on young people, we ensure our sessions are delivered with sensitivity, providing a safe and supportive space where participants feel heard and respected. Our mentors, who have overcome their own challenges, bring valuable insights and empathy, helping to form genuine connections with the young people.
This approach fosters not only a sense of belonging but also empowers participants to grow, develop resilience, and thrive within a nurturing and understanding setting.
